When a woman or man is being beaten up, raped and humiliated by a partner many people do not react or even worse participate in the abuse by befriending the perpetrator.

When a woman or man escapes an abuser and has to deal with harassment, death threats and constant fear she/he is being labelled as paranoid. Police officers can also tell her that it is a matter of: he says/ she says!!!

But, when a woman breaks free from an abusive relationship by killing, she crossed the line and is a paria, a criminal because she did not die in the hands of a furious beast. (The Women Who Killed Their Abusers & Their Fight For Justice – www.youtube.com, n.d.)

I wonder if society still expects women to put up with it. as if being insulted, rapped, taking for granted, humiliated, manipulated, isolated, lied to and sequestrated is not enough, as a domestic violence survivor you are silenced.

For men the sentence is to be castrated, metaphorically and condemned for not having a “Man up” bravado!!!

Domestic abusers kill women, men and children as well as any person coming in the way of the abuser and his/her victims.

The saddest part to me is the fact that there is a ” Higher proportions of black and minority ethnic women suffer domestic abuse but “face racism from public agencies.” (The Independent, 2020)

My question is when is racism going to stop?
